Giava’s personality is foreshadowed in its deep, bright ruby colour, speckled with a little garnet. It strides out on the nose with a gentle yet purposeful gait, immediately revealing warm, sweetish sensations of small ripe fruits – including black cherries, raspberries and a hint of blackberries – which then give way to inebriating scents of red roses and violets and finally conclude with spicy and balsamic notes that are reminiscent of resin, bark, pepper and juniper. In the mouth, it offers a juicy, mouth-filling flavour, underpinned by satisfying freshness and velvety tannins that delicately dry out one’s palate, preparing it for the next sip.
Serving suggestions: Giava is a wine that combines delicacy and strength. It therefore goes well with quite intensely flavoured dishes, such as roast rabbit or mature cheeses. Tasty when paired with a mixed grill.
